Story
A goods shed on Lantern Lane
Nine Lanterns is a converted goods shed in the old rail yards, on a lane already called Lantern Lane. Nine paper lanterns came out of a crate left behind in the shed and went up over the counter on the first day. There are more than nine now, and the name stuck anyway.
The grill is binchōtan charcoal and it cooks the whole menu. There are no tables. Everyone sits at the counter, close enough to the coals to feel them, and the last order goes on at eleven.
